Wardrobe: Snakes & Ladders

Okay, so there are actually no traces of snakes or snakeskin in my outfit, but I feel like a snake right now – transformational – so let that be enough.

So…I passed!  I have an MFA in Creative Writing.  Oh, the breadth of employment opportunities this will surely afford me (*cough*).  Either way, I feel a huge sense of relief and accomplishment.  I’m happy with the way my thesis turned out, and would love to share bits and pieces with you all.  I’ll see how I feel about my publishing prospects in the coming days and weeks, and go from there.

In other news, I have a bit of a cold (great timing, as usual – I was lucky not to lose my voice for my thesis defense), and have spent the past couple days just…being.  I don’t think it’s really set in yet that my nineteen-year stint of government-funded education has come to an end.  I’m pretty sure I prayed for this maybe like…once in high school, anticipated it my junior year of college, and didn’t actually beg the universe to end it all until sometime last year.  I’m glad to be done, but I’m not really sure what a life without school will feel like.

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to wear this bodysuit.  I snapped it up the second I saw it, months ago at UO.  It’s comfy and so versatile – I’ll be wearing this all year, damnit!  I purchased several bodysuits this past year (I’ll be debuting another shortly), and they all make me giddy with glee.

This silly little $6 watch has proven to be quite versatile.  I don’t really wear watches as often as I used to (these days if I do, it’s an accessory choice – I actually forget I have a clock on my wrist 90% of the time and still check the time on my phone).  On the whole I’m really glad to be freed from the command of a wristwatch, but they’re still fun to wear sometimes.

These Jessica Simpsons are definitely my most frequently-worn pair of shoes this spring/summer.  They’re gorgeous, they’re comfortable, they’re versatile (I just realized I’ve said that word three times now – I counted), and I can stand and walk in them for hours without getting blisters – it’s kind of amazing.
