Today’s a lazy day, so I thought I’d just briefly discuss my love of ice cream (not to mention sorbet, sherbet, frozen yogurt, and other variants). I’ve gone out for the cold stuff twice in a 24-hour period, and I can’t say I’m displeased. Just tried out Oh Yeah! (a coffee and ice cream shop) this afternoon and purchased a half-cup of “Birthday Cake” ice cream (mixed with Sweet Cream and extra sprinkles). I was skeptical, but it really does taste like birthday cake! Frosting and all. It was magic.

And, of course, there’s Cold Stone Creamery (my favorite; see above). I love their Raspberry Sorbet with raspberries (and sometimes graham crackers or gummy bears) mixed in–not for the faint of heart. But when I can’t handle that kind of amazing, too-sweet, taste bud massacre (like I couldn’t last night), I’ll go for a combo of Mint, Cotton Candy, and Sweet Cream (or, in the winter months, substitute the latter for Candy Cane, which is even better). Add sprinkles, and it’s a sweet, cool, summery, Christmas-y, birthday party carnival. Complete with fireworks and Ferris wheel. And gifts on the seats–full of candy. I’m serious.
And good news! Cold Stone has ice cream cupcakes now.

Belgian chocolate cups, cake, fudge, ice cream, frosting, and various garnishes. I am truly in awe, even though it was bound to happen eventually.
Hot Scoop (pun intended): If you visit Cold Stone’s website, you can sign up to receive a coupon for free ice cream on your birthday! I will be receiving mine later this month, and it will be a joyous occasion.
And thus concludes my deep thought for the day. I hope you all enjoyed the weekend, and encounter many frozen treats in your future. Tell me: What are your favorite flavors?
